Toyota Release New Hybrid Lexus in Summer

Toyota has announced that they estimate they will sell 25,000 new Lexus hybrid cars in the United State throughout their first year of sales.

Toyota plan to release their brand new luxury hybrid car, the Lexus HS250 Hybrid, this summer into the U.S. market. The new Lexus HS250 is the first Lexus hybrid car to be made. However, the Lexus isn’t their first dedicated hybrid car. In 2000 Toyota released the Prius which was their first hybrid car, this saw massive sales in the U.S.

Even though Toyota hasn’t release any price details of their new Lexus HS250 Hybrid, it’s not likely to be a cheap car to buy. Maybe a lexus lease option would be a cheaper alternative.

Since the release of the Prius in 2000, Toyota have taken control of over 75% of the U.S. hybrid car market, selling over 1 million hybrid cars. All of those hybrid car sales have accounted for half of Toyota’s worldwide hybrid car sales.

Toyota also release their new third generation Prius into the U.S. earlier this year which has forcasted sales of around 180,000 units in it’s first year. Certainly a huge number more than expected for the upcoming luxury Lexus hybrid car.

However, although they have estimated these sales, whether they will actually achieve that number is a different question. Although the amount of car sales in May rose since last month, the amount of car sales since the start of 2009 as dropped by 36% in the U.S. Even more bad news has struck Toyota, the amount of hybrid car sales has slumped recently. This is because even though fuel prices rose considerably last July, since then they have dropped in price over the last few months.

This price drop has resulted in more sales of gasoline powered cars because they tend to be around $4000 cheaper than a hybrid, fuel efficient car.

That aside, Toyota still have high hopes their new luxury Hybrid car because they believe that the car market is improving and the requirement for hybrid cars is coming back. Toyota might be relying alot on the car lease market. Due to the current econmical troubles, many customers are choosing to lease a car rather than buy their own new one, simply becaue it’s cheaper to lease.
